Our Urbanists & Environmentalists

The Urbanists & Environmentalists working group targets urban regeneration, civic inclusion, political empowerment, and environmentalism. By bringing together architects, urban planners, sociologists, environmentalists, policymakers, landscape architects, surveyors, geographers, and passionate enthusiasts, this group creates practical solutions to reshape our living environments.

What is the Group’s Philosophy?

The politics of cities, neighborhoods, and individuals are deeply intertwined with the laws that govern us and the spaces we inhabit, making this group’s work critical for shaping just, equitable, and sustainable futures.  In today’s world, where rapid urbanization and climate challenges redefine the way we live, the Urbanists & Environmentalists Working Group is more relevant than ever. It serves as a platform for creating multiscalar intervention, from the individual to the city level, that address urban regeneration, civic inclusion, political empowerment, and environmental sustainability.

Who Should Join?

This working group welcomes students, graduates, professionals, and enthusiasts in the fields of architecture, urban politics, urbanism, social work, urban regeneration, and related disciplines. Anyone with a minimum age of 20 who is passionate about addressing urban challenges is encouraged to participate.

What Can You Expect?

Participants engage in result-oriented sessions, both live and online, which may include workshops, field surveys, and community mobilizations. The outputs are diverse, ranging from architectural mappings and studies of urban informalities to literature reviews, infographics, urban policy analysis, tactical design interventions, and 3D modeling. Collaborations with design collectives and local communities further enrich the learning and impact of the group.
