In a bid to combat corruption, promote decentralization, equip both private and public institutions, and empower the economy, ‘Transitioning to Digitization’ entails developing methods of digitizing governmental transactions and paperwork ensuring a secure, efficient, and economic process.

Project Narrative
In Lebanon, the system in place for gathering governmental documents and paperwork is outdated, time-consuming, and is conducted by unqualified employees, with unequipped centers, where such processes are interrupted by a significant deal of informalities - generating a myriad of problems [Cobb, 2018]. For all the reasons listed above, and many more, digitization has become an important next step. To add to that, there are a number of advantages that come with digitization. The first benefit is what Kelly [2022] calls ‘Operation Digitalization’ - a benefit for both employees and citizens - which serves to turn an entire organization (in this case governmental organizations) into a digital ecosystem - thereby facilitating communication and operation. Other benefits include increased innovation and agility, easier collaboration across departments, increased data transparency, and creating a better organizational culture [Kelly, 2022].
Intentions
After the selection of a particular governmental/ public transaction, such as a particular process in a municipality, civic record, passport, ID, visa, driver’s license, and visa papers, research will be conducted to draw out a typical journey map. An informative visual diagram manifests this process. Since the process happens differently in different regions of the country, the most controversial and inefficient footprints for a governmental transaction will be mapped and studied. The second phase consists of conducting research to figure out which solution could best digitize, decentralize, secure, and optimize the process - then, a short proposal containing text, photos, and references will be developed to convey the solution. Finally, a mock prototype will be developed, conveying the benefits as a result of the proposed solution. Moreover, a short video will be produced, where actors test the newly designed scenario.
